Storytelling In Your Area - Channel Islands: 2012 onwards

Since January 2012 we have organised the following multi-sensory storytelling sessions:

Mont-a-l'Abbe School, St Helier, Jersey. 17/10/13

Our Storyteller ran seven storytelling sessions with a total of 55 participating children. We received combined feedback on behalf of all the teachers. They judged that all bar two of the children had benefitted from the multi-sensory storytelling and rated the experience as "5/5 - Very Good”. They added, "[The Storyteller] was an excellent story teller and it was a wonderful day thank you. We have all been inspired to use the books again! It may have required extension for our older more able pupils. We discussed this on the day and [the Storyteller] has some great ideas. Thanks again."

Le Rondin School and Centre, Forest, Guernsey. 16/10/13

Our Storyteller ran six storytelling sessions with a total of 45 participating children. We received feedback from four teachers. They judged that all of the children in their classes had benefitted from the multi-sensory storytelling. All four rated the experience as "5/5 - Very Good”. Comments were:

  • "A very enjoyable session for my pupils. It was great to see their responses."
  • "I have used Bag Books in a previous school and found them very effective and was not disappointed with my reintroduction to them. All the children of 3-5 year olds were engaged throughout the session. The storyteller was very good in his delivery of the stories and it was a thoroughly enjoyable session for pupils and staff. We were introduced to different stories but both were equally successful in maintaining the attention of the children and encouraging them to participate at an appropriate level."
  • "A most enjoyable session, where all our children were engaged and entertained. We were impressed how the use of simple resources paired with skillful storytelling was used so effectively."
  • "The children were totally engaged and they all participated fully. Storyteller was great and the repetition spot on. Thank you!"

Le Murier School, St. Sampson's, Guernsey. 15/10/13

Our Storyteller ran one storytelling session with eight participating children. We received feedback from one teacher. They judged that all of the children had benefitted from the multi-sensory storytelling and rated the experience as "4/5 - Good”. They added, "The storyteller was well prepared and relaxed. He engaged with all the students. One student was asleep (and often is) but was given the same attention as all the others. The props looked to be made to a very good standard and were very suitable for our students. The stories were delivered at a good pace and made me think about the way I deliver my own. Thanks."
